Bolton NQT Secondary Programme

NQT Programme 2018-19

The Secondary NQT Programme has been created by St. James’s and Ladywood Teaching Schools in association with Bolton Secondary School Improvement Group (BSSIG) and Bolton Local Authority. The Programme has been created in consultation with current NQTs and will be delivered by Lead Practitioners from Bolton Schools. Sessions vary between a full day, half days and a self-selecting twilight. Its purpose is to support NQTs throughout their induction year by focussing on Teachers’ Standards and priorities for Bolton.

The Programme comprises of:

NQT Session 1: Last Drop Village Hotel  Welcome Event Thursday 11th October 2018 (9:30am-3:30pm)

This event will consist of:

Welcome to Bolton Speech

  • The opportunity to network with other NQTs
  • A question and answer session with RQTs
  • How to have professional conversations
  • A snap shot of some of the Services available within Bolton
  • An key note speech by Sir John Jones

This will then be followed by a twilight and two half day events based around the needs of the NQTs.

NQT Session 2: Bolton St Catherine’s Academy – Conference Suite

Wednesday 28th November (afternoon 1-4, Buffet lunch from 12.15)

The format of the afternoon will be:

  • Behaviour for learning
  • Developing all inclusive practice


 NQT Session 3:  Twilight

Spring term 2018 – Week commencing 21st January 2019  (4.00-5.45)

Self-selected workshop based on their selected choices from the welcome event. NQTs will attend one session:

  • Differentiation for EAL– Date tbc at Ladybridge High School
  • Technology to inspire Practice Date tbc at Essa High School
  • More Able Learners – Date tbc at Turton High School

NQT Session 4: BSTC

Tuesday 5nd March 2019 (9.00-12.30 Inc. Grab bag lunch to take away)

The format of the morning will be:

  • Engaging Learners
  • Meeting the needs of students/planning for progress

NQT Day 6:

Celebration Event July 2019 (Twilight) Venue and Date TBC

This event will consist of:

  • Presentation of Certificate
  • Celebration speech
