Bolton NQT Primary Programme 2018/19

NQT Primary Programme 2018-19

We are delighted to offer the Bolton NQT Primary Programme for 2018/19. This programme builds on the past experience of delivering the programme and in particular the revisions that were made this academic year.

The basis of the programme continues to be self-selected workshops focused on the Teachers Standards 2012.

The NQT, alongside their school based mentor, will have the option to complete a self-audit that can be used throughout the year to help in developing their practice further. This audit is directly linked to the Teachers Standards and will be based on the OLEVI NQT validated programme and responses from this year’s NQTs. This document will be sent directly to schools and then to NQTs once they are booked onto the programme.

The Programme will be delivered in the following way:

NQT Day 1: Welcome Event Thursday 11th October 2018 (Whole Day) at the Last Drop Village Hotel.

This event will consist of:

  • A snap shot of some of the Services available within Bolton
  • A question and answer session with RQTs
  • The opportunity to network with other NQTs
  • Assessment for Learning
  • Welcome to Bolton Speech
  • Key note speaker – Sir John Jones.

This will then be followed by 2 whole day events based around the needs of the NQTs.

NQT Day 2: Friday 25th January 2019 (Whole Day) at BSTC

The format of day 2 in the morning will be a whole group input :

  • Managing pupil behaviour
  • Highly effective Teaching and Learning

The afternoon will be workshops based on their selected choices from day 1:

  • Differentiation for the more able
  • Supporting pupils with EAL
  • Differentiation for pupils with SEND
  • Vocabulary across the curriculum

NQT Day 3: 29th March 2019 (Whole Day) at BSTC

  • The format of day 3 in the morning will be a whole group input:
  1. Computing in the classroom
  2. Subject Leadership

The afternoon will be workshops based on their selected choices from Day 2:

  • Growth Mindset
  • Cooperative Learning
  • Wellbeing

NQT Day 4: Celebration Event in July 2019 Date and Venue TBC

This event will consist of:

  • Celebration
  • Presentation of Certificate

Theory in Practice (Optional)

NQTs will also have the opportunity to see the theory in practice at selected schools throughout the year.
